Subjects

Biochemica publishes original research and review articles that advance the understanding of biochemical and molecular processes in living systems. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • Enzymology and protein chemistry
  • Structural biology and molecular modeling
  • Metabolism: primary and secondary metabolites
  • Biochemical pharmacology and toxicology
  • Molecular biology and gene expression
  • Plant biochemistry and phytochemistry
  • Microbial biochemistry
  • Cellular signaling and regulatory pathways
  • Biochemical aspects of disease and therapeutics
  • Natural products and bioactive compounds
  • Validation of biochemical pathways in traditional knowledge systems
  • Interaction of biochemical pathways with environmental and ecological systems
  • Analytical biochemistry and innovative biochemical techniques

Research that provides insight into biochemical mechanisms, develops new biochemical methodologies, or explores the biochemical basis of physiological and ecological processes is highly encouraged.
